Throughout Idaho, families are struggling with caring for loved ones who encounter sudden disabilities. Whether brought about by traumatic brain injury, substance abuse complications, mental health diagnoses or other medical events that result in disability, these conditions can create stress and concern for patients and family alike.
They share a common worry: “What is the long-term plan?”
It’s a question filled with uncertainties, but Residential Habilitation (ResHab) emerges as a beacon of warmth and hope. Funded by Medicaid and available at no cost to qualifying individuals, ResHab allows people to remain at home or in a private residence while receiving personalized care from trained staff. ResHab caregivers are dedicated to nurturing the unique strengths of individuals and to guiding them toward self-sufficiency. Whether it’s a few hours weekly or continuous, around-the-clock care, ResHab fosters independence in self-direction, daily living activities, finances, mobility, socialization, and behavior management.
This service reduces stress for families, fosters independence, and strengthens relationships by ensuring loved ones are cared for in a familiar, supportive environment.
ResHab not only empowers individuals but also cradles the hearts of families, offering assurance that their loved ones will thrive with care, support and dignity.
Residential Habilitation is a Home and Community Based Service (HCBS) funded by Medicaid. It exists to provide an alternative to family care or institutions. Residential Habilitation agencies provide:
Assistance with finding housing options for living alone or with roommates.
Ensuring safety and well-being.
Programs to encourage, measure and increase the success of independence and autonomy.
Participation in social activities, both in the disabled community and in the community at large.
Relief for family members who have sacrificed freedom to care for their loved one.
With permission and input from individuals, assistance in managing emotions, interactions and maladaptive behaviors.
HCBS laws require plans to be customized to individual needs and wants.
